Remote Transcriptionist / Captioner

About the Role

We are looking for accurate Transcriptionists and Captioners to convert audio and video content into written text. Your work will help make content accessible, searchable, and usable for a global audience. Every transcript you produce helps someone access information they otherwise could not. The salary for this role is $300 - $600 , paid monthly in USD, and reflects RemoteTask Online's global compensation model for fully remote professionals.

A typical day involves receiving audio files through our secure portal — interviews, podcasts, webinars, meetings, or video content — and transcribing them using our tools. You will add timestamps where required, identify speakers, and proofread your work before submission. Most assignments come with clear deadlines but allow you to manage your own schedule within each shift.

This is a flexible, entry-level role perfect for someone with excellent listening skills and fast, accurate typing. No degree required, just a good ear and a reliable keyboard. We provide all the training you need to succeed.

Key Responsibilities

• Transcribe audio and video recordings with 98%+ accuracy
• Add timestamps, speaker labels, and sound cues as required
• Generate closed captions for video content using our template system
• Proofread and edit transcripts for grammar, punctuation, and clarity
• Follow client-specific formatting and style guidelines precisely
• Meet daily and weekly transcription targets while maintaining quality

Who You Are

• Typing speed of 40+ WPM with high accuracy (test will be administered)
• Excellent listening skills and strong command of English grammar
• No degree required — we train you on our tools and workflows
• Ability to focus for extended periods on detailed audio work
• Reliable internet connection and a quiet workspace free of background noise
• Experience with transcription software or foot pedals is a plus but not required

Training & Onboarding

Your first two weeks are designed to build your transcription skills and familiarity with our tools:

• Week 1: Platform orientation, practice files with feedback, style guide training, and accuracy benchmarks
• Week 2: Live assignments with reduced supervision, peer review cycles, and a final accuracy assessment
• Ongoing: Weekly quality scores, monthly calibration sessions, and access to advanced training for specialised content (legal, medical, technical)

All training is paid. You will never be asked to work on a file type you have not been trained on.
